Hello! Hola! في صحتك للترحيب! 你好! Hallo! Bonjour! 여보세요! Ciao! こんにちは! Ahoj! Salve! Salom! سلام! Здравствуйт
! Sawubona! Witaj! नमस्कार! γεια! Aloha!
Let me start out by saying if you are looking for the funniest, wittiest, best written blog on travel, you might be in the wrong place. We don’t know all of the hidden gems in every corner of the world nor can we speak 100 different languages. We can’t get you an all inclusive stay in Bora Bora by reading and participating in our blog. We don’t dine in luxury nor do we always stay in 5 star hotels. We aren’t nearly that cool. And, to be honest, our country count is quite low for the typical travel writer/blogger. What we do well, however, is offer extremely transparent and honest accounts discussing the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of travel and traveling as a binational couple on a budget.
Traveling isn’t always perfectly framed instagram pictures. It’s not always trying new exotic foods and being totally fine after. Plans don’t always go as “planned”. Planes aren’t always caught on time. Traveling is more like…rolling with the punches. Maybe it’s spending a night on the toilet after trying some questionable street food. It can be running to the connection flight that will get you home for a surprise Christmas visit with family you haven’t seen in over a year, and still missing the plane. It might be asking your taxi driver to pull over, in broken mandarin, because you MAY have had one too many drinks the night before. It could be leaving your backpack with 2,000$ in a Beijing airport bathroom (we will get to that one later on).
Point is, travel isn’t always ideal. But one thing’s for sure, it is definitely worth the hassle in some way or another. You may not value your experiences in the moment. It may take days, weeks or even months until you realize the good in a particular adventure. But I promise, if you look, the goodness is there. It’s always there.
Traveling definitely feeds this couples’ souls. It’s what makes he and I thrive. We live for the next travel high! The next beautiful view (even if the view follows being “attacked” by monkeys… AFTER a 2 hour hike of 2,900 stairs in the wet, excruciating heat of Zhangjiajie, China).
There is an unspoken fire that is constantly burning in the pit of our stomachs. This desire to feed all senses of our bodies in a foreign land. To HEAR an unknown language being spoken all around us. To SEE landscapes, skylines and wonders of the world that we’ve only ever seen on TV. To TASTE the delicious local food! To TOUCH a pair of earrings made by the sweet old lady on the corner with whom your only common ground of communication is the exchange of sweet smiles. To SMELL the delicious smells of street foods you’d otherwise never dare to try.
We have a strong aspiration in our souls to share with you that raw realities of traveling. The highs and the lows. The good and the bad. The put together versions of ourselves along with the transparency of the very obvious fact that we aren’t always that put together. There will be an enormous amount of laughter, likely some crying and definitely some cursing as we share with you what it has been like to marry and travel with someone from a different country – all while the world is in the middle of this crazy pandemic. We are not super vulnerable on social media. Who is? We tend to put our best face forward. But here, we promise to keep it 100 with y’all.
Come and get to know us!
